 Nearly split in half by the Chesepeake Bay, which provides the state with an important fishing industry, Maryland is situated in the Mid Atlantic region of the United States. Its capital is Annapolis, while its largest city is Baltimore. The Mason-Dixon Line forms the state's northern border, and as a result of its location, Maryland has a mix of both Southern and Northern cultures.
