Virginia

 The Commonwealth of Virginia is located in the southern United States. While much of the northern part of the state forms part of the Washington, DC metropolitan area, there are many other important cities. Richmond, the state capital, was also the capital of the Confederacy during the Civil War. Virginia Beach, located on the coast, is the largest city. The state is also known for the Blue Ridge Mountains and its beaches.
